Background Information:
Designability was created by a group of teachers with a wealth of experience in Design and Technology subjects. Designability is an online website that provides teachers with classroom ready resources for teaching design and technology subjects, as well as teaching materials, project materials, equipment and professional development resources. Units of work, that are easily adapted for individual needs, are available for purchase on their website.

  3. I love the detail the website includes on each experiment/project. This will make it very easy for teachers and preservice teachers to use in the classroom. The projects listed also present students with many opportunity for them to develop hands on skills. Great Find !

  7. This website is amazing. It has a collection of engaging and exciting design ideas for students ranging in age and experience.

    In an upper primary classroom this design website could easily be linked to science inquiry, where students work in pairs or small groups. The groups could select a design and aim to improve the design.

    For example, if the students select the race and chase car, several experiments could be conducted to decide what type of wheels would make the car faster.

    Content description:
    Forces can be exerted by one object on another through direct contact or from a distance (ACSSU076).

    Elaborations:
    Observing qualitatively how speed is affected by the size of a force.

    Comparing and contrasting the effect of friction on different surfaces, such as tyres and shoes on a range of surfaces.

  8. This is a fantastic website. I love the wide range of projects that include a variety of technologies that allows students to be creative and hands on. I look forward to using some of these ideas in my classroom.

  9. This resource looks like a great and easy resource to use in the classroom. It has a wide range of ideas and lots of different hands on ideas for varying age groups. It would be great to see these used in classrooms and look forward to using them in my own classroom.
