A+ SPELLING

INTRODUCTION: A+ Spelling is an app created by Allagator which can be downloaded through apple for free. This app is suitable for all age groups as it allows students to work on their own spelling words. Students can access this app on IPads and work either individually, with partners or in small groups. Students will be able to enter their words in normal, funny or interesting voices and will be given activities like unjumble  their spelling words and tests for extra learning.

CLASSROOM LESSONS:

• This app could be used in a spelling lesson with partners and/or smalls groups. Students with the same spelling words will be able work together as well as support each other, this is also a good behaviour manager strategy. Students will take it in turns to enter their list words into the device. Once completed students will be able to spell out a list word one at a time and play games such a unjumble, hangman, charades. Students can also be tested on A+ spelling which is a helpful tool for teachers to monitor spelling tests through out the year.
• A+ Spelling is a app that even younger students can use easily. I would suggest introducing this app through a buddy class. Therefor older students will be able to work one on one with a buddy and model how to use the app correctly and in an engaging way. Noise levels also won’t be a problem as long as the students speak clearly near the IPad microphone.
